My Side Of The Mountain Ch.15

The hunting season began early november. Sam decided to go to the library because he needed to get some exercise and he also wanted t go see how Mrs. Turner was doing. Sam didn't go to the library cause there were hunters all over the Catskills and he almost got shot by a hunter. It was like an inch close to his elbow and if he moved any closer he could've lost hi hand or broken a bone and go back to living in the apartment. But he didn't. The hunter who almost shot Sam wounded a young buck badly. after that incident Sam climbed up a tree and Frightful flew into the sky for a while. The man who shot the deer gave up because he couldn't find it, but Sam saw everything he even saw where the deer went. Soon SAm thought to himself.... he was going to use the hunters to kill deers and then Sam could cover it with stuff like tree limbs and bushes. Later that month sam caught two deers. Sam did not have to smoke the last two deer cause it was cold enough that it would just freeze. They were hard to tan because they kept on freezing.
